How MockExam handles your data

Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using MockExam.

By using MockExam, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the site or any related services.

1. Information we collect

We collect information in three main ways:

  • Account information – When you sign up, we may collect your name, email address, password hash, and subscription details (e.g., Free, Pro, Premium).
  • Usage & exam data – When you take mock exams or practice quizzes, we store your answers, scores, attempt history, time spent, and topics you interacted with to generate analytics and AI feedback.
  • Payment information – For paid subscriptions, payments are processed by third-party providers (such as PayMongo). We receive payment status, reference IDs, and basic billing metadata but do not store your full card number or CVV on our servers.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the MockExam platform and its core features.
  • Generate scores, analytics, and AI-powered feedback on your exam attempts.
  • Personalize your experience, such as showing recommended exams or topics to review.
  • Process subscription payments and manage your plan status.
  • Monitor performance, detect abuse, and improve reliability and security.
  • Communicate with you about updates, changes, or important notices related to your account.

3. AI-generated explanations

MockExam uses AI to generate explanations, tips, and follow-up questions based on your answers. To do this, we may send anonymized or pseudonymized exam data (for example, the question text and your selected answer) to AI models.

  • We use this data only to generate feedback and improve your learning experience.
  • We do not use your personal identity (such as your full name or email) in prompts sent to the AI.
  • AI responses may occasionally contain mistakes; always verify important information with trusted sources.

4. Cookies & similar technologies

MockExam may use cookies or similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in between sessions.
  • Remember your preferences (such as theme or language).
  • Measure traffic and usage patterns to improve the site.

You can usually control or delete cookies via your browser settings, but some features of MockExam may not work properly if cookies are disabled.

5. Data sharing & third parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with:

  • Payment processors – To handle subscription payments and verify successful transactions.
  • Infrastructure & analytics providers – To host the application, store data securely, and understand how the platform is used.
  • AI services – To generate explanations and feedback as described above.

These providers are only given the data they need to perform their services and are expected to protect it appropriately.

6. How we protect your data

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Storing passwords using secure hashing (never in plain text).
  • Restricting access to sensitive systems to authorized personnel only.
  • Using HTTPS to encrypt data in transit between your browser and our servers.

However, no system is completely secure. You also play a part in protecting your data by choosing a strong password and keeping your login details private.

7. Data retention

We retain your account information and exam data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations.

If you close your account or request deletion, we may retain certain records for a reasonable period if required for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
